Dental hygiene refers to all those things we do – and avoid doing – to take care of our teeth and gums while keeping our smiles bright and shiny. A lot of these things are simple and seem small, but each of them is important to your oral health.
The “dos” are things we’ve all heard time and time again. In this case, though, repetition does not diminish the value of the recommendation. This list includes everything from building a brushing/flossing routine to eating and drinking the right foods.
The “don’ts” include a few items that might be harder to follow through with. After all, many of us really love our coffee, wine, soda, and sugary snacks. However, we may have to reduce our intake if we want to protect our teeth. It’s also important to note that, while we have to brush every day, there’s a right way and a wrong way to do it.
It’s easy to forget some of these guidelines on occasion specifically because they are so basic and simple. Even so, keep them in your mind and you’ll keep that beautiful smile your whole life.
