denturesDentures have become a stereotypical product for old people and those with terrible teeth. The traditional style is uncomfortable because they tend to be too large or too small. When they are too big, they fall out a lot, smacking while the wearer talks. The alternative of being too small isn’t much better either, pinching the gums and making biting painful. Adhesive creams require precise application and vary on preference. At Hazzouri Dental, we have a better way with modern dentures.

Modern Dentures

If you have missing teeth, don’t put the cup of water on your nightstand for dentures quite yet. According to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons say that almost 70% of adults between the ages of 35 and 44 in the U.S. have at least one missing tooth. For those who are missing more, dentures are not an attractive option. Even partial dentures can feel comfortable, but if they are not fitted properly, the risk of infection and decay is significant on the surrounding teeth.

Modern dentures are a more permanent solution with dental implants. There are placed right into your gums with hardware that keeps it in place, requiring no extra work on your part. It is available for full denture rows or partial rows. The fake teeth are placed onto the hardware and then treated like regular teeth. In fact, there is no other option as natural looking or feeling as implants.

The Process

Dental implants use titanium screws that are anchored in your jaw. The first appointment we place the hardware and wait for it to heal. It will require a few months, but when the healing is done, the tissue and bone have fused together, mimicking a normal tooth root. For a single tooth, there is a screw for each implant. When you have a row of teeth, it isn’t necessary to place one under each because it will stay in place with less. Typically, it only requires two for a shorter row of teeth. For an entire row of teeth on the top or the bottom, we use six screws so there is less invasive work to do.

After the healing is done, we bring you back in for a second appointment. This is where we will place the tooth or row of teeth. These are made of ceramic, so they are strong, white, and comfortable. No one will ever know that they are not your natural teeth. Traditional dentures are made with molds of your gums, but they don’t fit or feel like your own teeth.
